SEND Information Report January 2026
Power Point – Parental Inclusion SEND

We aim to provide an environment where all children are able to achieve their potential.
We follow the definition in the Children and Families Act 2014:
A young person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special
educational provision, namely provision that is different from, or additional to, that normally
available to young people of the same age.
SEND is categorised under four broad areas (Code of Practice, 6.28):
Sensory and/or physical needs.
Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Social, emotional and mental health difficulties
We endeavour to work with parents of children who are registerd with a Special Educational Needs to achieve excellence for all.
Identification
All schools use a variety of ways to identify SEND needs including class teacher adn teaching assistant observations and input from specialist professionals. Parents and young people are fully involved in the identification process.
Graduated Response
Our school uses a graduated response (Assess – Plan – Do – Review) in line with the Code of
Practice. We identify pupils who may have special need through teacher observation and assessment, parent/carer concerns and external professional advice.
● Wave 1: High quality First Teaching – high-quality teaching for all young people with
adaptations for specific learners where appropriate and possible.
● Wave 2: Targeted Support – additional small group interventions.
● Wave 3: SEND Support – personalised interventions; outside agency involvement.
● Eucational Health Care Plan(EHCP) – statutory assessment and provision for young people with complex needs.
We fully support the policy of inclusion for children with SEND and aim to follow best practice in catering for individual children’s needs.
Inclusion, Accessibility and Equality
In line with the Equality Act 2010, we make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled
young people are not disadvantaged. We maintain an Accessibility Plan and actively address potential barriers to participation, including curriculum, environment, and communication.
The school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs Chapman (Assistant headteacher and Designated safeguarding Lead) and she will be happy to discuss any concerns parents may have with regard to the school’s Additional Needs or SEND provision.
